Two shark attacks occurred at two different beaches in Walton County, Florida, on Friday June 9. Authorities believe the same animal “probably” caused both incidents.

Three people were injured, including one seriously, on Friday June 7, in two shark attacks in Walton County, Florida, in the United States, reports American media USA Today.

The first, a 45-year-old woman, lost her left arm after being attacked off the beach in the town of Watersound. She had to be airlifted to hospital for treatment. The other two, teenagers aged 15 and 17, were injured at Inlet Beach. One of the two young people was also taken to hospital by helicopter.

Corey Dobridnia, the Walton County sheriff’s spokesman, told USA Today that he was “100 percent sure a shark was behind the attacks.” According to him, “it is probably the same shark, given the short distance between the two beaches”. The shark could belong to the race of bull sharks.

“It’s extremely rare.”

“It’s rare, extremely rare even, that three people are injured on the same day,” said fire chief Ryan Crawford during a press conference.

Access to beaches overlooking the Gulf of Mexico was blocked and red flags were put up to warn residents. Anyone who went there would receive a fine of 500 dollars (around 462 euros).
