When the lights went out, Max Verstappen quickly escaped from the grid before taking control of the race. But on the 5th lap of this sprint race, Lando Norris’ McLaren came back like an arrow on the Dutchman, at turn 3. This battle slowed down the RB20. At the end of this event, the current leader of the championship spoke to the F1 microphone. He complained about the difficulty of getting out of the DRS zone and being able to manage his energy without being hampered.
“It was a good first lap. But then with the DRS open with my opponents, it was very difficult to escape. It gave us some great battles. But once we were able to escape the DRS, I I was able to manage my own race. You could see that there were two cars behind me that were attacking hard. It wasn’t easy. We have to work on it. qualifying today and in the race tomorrow. I think tomorrow, in a longer race, it will be harder on the tires It will be an interesting race tomorrow. They all had the DRS, they used less energy. .They tried to catch me on the straight but once I was able to escape from the DRS zone, I was able to manage my energy more normally.
