The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad “closely follows the situation of the Moroccan community in Lebanon, in the context of current events”, we learn from a well-informed source.

According to the same source, a crisis unit has been set up to monitor developments in the situation and ensure the security of Moroccan citizens residing in the country.

The embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Beirut “is in constant contact with the vast majority of Moroccans residing in Lebanon, for whom it has contact details. The unlocated people are probably those who left Lebanon before the worsening of the crisis, or who have emigrated to other countries,” says the same source.

Questioned on the subject during the press briefing following the Government Council on Thursday, October 3, Mustapha Baitas stated that “no Moroccan casualties is to be deplored to this day.

“According to available information, a considerable number of Moroccans left Lebanon with their families before or just after the recent events, following repeated warnings issued by the authorities,” said the government spokesperson.

Remember that Morocco and Lebanon are not connected by a direct air line since the Covid-19 crisis. Royal Air Maroc had not relaunched this line, and Moroccans wishing to leave or leave Lebanon have no other choice than to opt for countries close to the land of cedar.
