Marcelo Fronckowiak said this in the preamble to this meeting. His team has been doing much better for two weeks, regaining confidence, solidity, and being able to rely on good working foundations. The performance of his team in Nice, this Saturday, November 23, proved him right with a victory full of character.
A committed TVB from the start
The start of the match on the Nice side, where it is always very difficult to play in this small room, was strong. The Tourangeaux were in tune, throwing themselves at all the balls in defense, being present in the block, slamming aces. They also did badly in attack, spearheaded by the untenable sharp Egleskalns (8-15).
In his wake, particularly in a money-time under high tension (19-20), his teammates took the lead despite the long rallies imposed by the Niçois who never gave up and which showed that the fight was indeed going to be intense ( 25-22).
This first set won, the dynamic completely changed and the Eagles were riding it. Dias and Kreek were sparkling on serve, and Simon Hirsch was still as powerful while being precise with his diagonal which he particularly likes (7-2). Put under pressure in the service, Tours no longer had a solution and found itself faced with a wall, losing its means. Service will have been the key
However, the shift would be in favor of the TVB in a third opus during which the two adversaries surrendered blow for blow. With Pothron in attack, and Coric serving, Tours was racing in front (9-5). But as usual, and faithful to its principles, the NVB did not abdicate to come and breathe again into the neck of Aracaju and his troop (16-15).
We then witnessed a huge duel between Hirsch and Egleskalns. The first city did everything on the other side of the net, but with more consistency, Tours finally held on to this set to regain control (25-21).
The Tourangeaux continued to press where it hurt with a thunderous passage from Gergye in the service. He immediately put his team in orbit and in a favorable position (6-0). The series continued this time with an impassable block, and Nice who were no longer able to receive correctly (8-1). The latter did not want to turn out to be defeated, but they started too far against the Tourangeaux who were solid until the end.
With a final set won 13-25, the TVB validated a precious victory, by three points, in a room where only Sète has so far won this year.
