After the 1-1 draw with Botafogo away from home this Saturday (23), coach Thiago Carpini praised Vitória's performance in such a complicated game against the team that was at the top of the Brasileirão.
“The team is a warrior, committed. We know how difficult it is to face this opponent here. We had a very intelligent, very wise stance. We defended well, but we never stopped counterattacking. Of course, in the second half it became unsustainable, it was expected that they would launch an attack. A fatality at the end ended up finding the equalizer. The first half was very well controlled, if we had done more we could have expanded. Two games away from home, we scored four out of six points. The performance is excellent”, analyzed the Leão coach.
With the result, Vitória reached 42 points and is in 12th place. For Carpini, the score is still not enough to breathe a sigh of relief. “Our fight is still relegation. With 42 points we are still not free. Our goal is survival. We now have two games at home. We have to prepare to score. Then we can stick to permanence and why not dream of something more”, he stated.
