OM wanted Youssoufa Moukoko this summer but the promising German striker was ultimately loaned by Borussia Dortmund to OGC Nice. Since then, Moukoko has had adaptation difficulties and has seen his playing time reduced. As the Team explains, although he scored with the German Espoirs in November, his performances in the Nice jersey remain insufficient, as illustrated by his substitution at the break against Twente on November 7 and his total absence against Lille three days later. Moukoko is struggling to establish himself in Franck Haise's tactical system, particularly in a 3-4-3 which does not highlight his qualities.
A departure this summer already confirmed?
His five competitive starts did not allow him to convince, despite notable efforts in training. According to his coach, Moukoko is still a young player of 20 years old who must progress step by step. The club implements means to support him, including regular discussions and exercises to build his confidence. However, the gap between the reputation he had before his arrival and his current performance is evident. Its integration into the French championship proves more difficult than expected, in particular because of the differences in style of play with the Bundesliga. With the arrival of Terem Moffi expected in February, Moukoko could see his competition increase. Although his €18 million loan with option to buy minimizes the risks for the club, it seems unlikely that his Nice adventure will extend beyond next summer if his performances do not improve.
