Fans of the hit series Bridgerton have reason to rejoice: filming for season 4 is underway! While the plot remains shrouded in mystery, a recent casting announcement has just revealed some of its secrets.

Since its arrival on the platform, The Bridgerton Chronicle has shaken up the codes of the genre. Inspired by the novels of Julia Quinn, the series follows the romantic adventures of the Bridgerton family in an alternative Regency London.

Each season focuses on a different member of the siblings, featuring passionate love stories and constant twists and turns. While season 3 has just concluded by sealing the union of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, eyes are already turning towards the sequel, as explained Screenrant. But there is one question that all fans of the series ask themselves:
What romance will be at the center of the plot of season 4?

Bridgerton Chronicle: A New Face and a Hint at the Next Romance?

The veil is gradually being lifted on the next season of
Bridgerton. Recently, a casting call revealed the search for an intriguing new character. Baptized Emilyshe is a woman of East Asian origin aged 24 to 30, described as “courageous, resourceful and having difficulty trusting others“.

Important information: the role involves nudity and scenes of a sexual nature, strongly suggesting thatEmily will be the next love conquest of one of the Bridgertons.

Or could Emily’s name be a code name for Sophie Beckett?

But not so fast. In the cutthroat world of big-budget TV shows, casting names sometimes serve as a subterfuge to confuse the issue and avoid spoilers. We can therefore legitimately wonder who is really hiding behind
Emily. Based on the character description, many are leaning toward Sophie Beckett, Benedict Bridgerton’s love interest in the novel series.

Remember that according to showrunner Jess Brownell, season 4 could well highlight the story of a new Bridgerton. Benedict, alongside Francesca and Eloïse, is one of the contenders for the main role. If it is indeed her romantic adventure that will be told, then it is very likely that Emily is none other than Sophie Beckett. The mention of his East Asian origins fits perfectly into
the desire of the series to present mixed coupleslike Daphné and Simon Hastings, Anthony and Kate Sharma and Francesca and John Stirling.

Is the character description faithful to the original work?

Emily’s description actually fits perfectly with Sophie’s character traits depicted in the books. Courageous and suspicious, she has a dark secret that prevents her from fully committing to a romantic relationship.. However, it is important to note that the series does not hesitate to deviate from the novels to offer original plots. Emily
could therefore completely be a new character, created especially for the needs of the adaptation.

Another element to consider: Benedict Bridgerton’s sexuality. Jess Brownell has in fact confirmed that the latter is pansexual, thus leaving the door open to a romance which would not necessarily be heterosexual. While we wait to learn more about Emily’s fate and the identity of the next Bridgerton to succumb to Cupid’s arrows, the wait promises to be a tasty one for fans of the series.
