Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine panicked by a worrying prediction: her father, far from being reassuring, hit the nail on the head…

The host of C to you Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine, to be found at the presentation of the famous talk show this Wednesday evening, is a fan of gaffes. Just last week, she committed one against Tomer Sisley. If there she had some difficulty accepting her mistake, it is very often the opposite. The one nicknamed “Babeth” in the industry generally has no trouble recognizing her wrongs and had a “self-deprecating ability“quite disconcerting. This is what our colleagues from Psychologies Magazine, who went to meet him in 2018.

It can even go so far as to devalue itself. Could this be “a sign of a lack of self-confidence”? Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine then recognized that she is indeed inhabited on a daily basis by a certain “pessimism“came straight from his childhood and in particular from a trauma linked to a sentence said to him by his father:”At 10 years old, I was a very pious little girl. One evening, in 1981, while I was saying my prayers before going to bed, I heard a voice telling me: ‘you are going to die on May 11, 1982!’ Where all little girls expect comfort from their parents, Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine was not really entitled to it. On the contrary : I went down in fear to see my father who, after listening to me, dismissed my case – ‘go and say a prayer’ instead of reassuring myself with ‘of course it won’t happen!’…

Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine, “death is a reality”

Amazing advice, which obviously didn’t help her get the idea out of her head that she was going to die soon: “I lived for a year in terror of that May 11, 1982. I told myself that I would not survive the birthday of my older sister Véronique, born on May 13.“Arthur and Vasco’s mother then sought comfort from those around her:”I spoke about it to my friends at the Legion of Honor, where I was boarding. But it was complicated this anxiety to bear for a little girl of 11 years old. The night of May 10, I wanted to resist sleeping. I asked my friends to watch over me in the dormitory.”

Finally, she “asleep” and woke up like every day, contrary to what the little voice she had heard had announced. A fairly traumatic experience but one which therefore allowed Bertrand Chameroy’s great accomplice to forge her character: “It’s a fairly foundational episode in my mental functioning and in the way I view existence. Death is a reality. I think of her every day. This is my way of preparing for it. But I don’t drag this thought around like a ball and chain. I am naturally happy. Getting up in the morning is a joy.
