The C8 channel refuses to go off the air. Hundreds of thousands of signatories oppose its disappearance.
Last July, Arcom decided to do not renew the frequency of C8 after February 28. On this date, it will no longer be possible to watch TPMP, Chez Jordan or Direct Auto on this channel. Once the verdict had been reached, the channel immediately decided to challenge it before the Council of State.
The latter has thus received several summary appeals from him since last September. If the administrative judge dismissed the first, a hearing scheduled for November 15 will decide the fate of the chain founded and owned by the Bolloré group. Several hundred employees would risk losing their jobs.
Closure of C8: a petition that could change everything?
“I consider myself, and know that we already have a 35-page file, harassed by the Arcom organization, which behind it generates hate messages on social networksCyril Hanouna was indignant on the TPMP set when he returned to the air last September. This is extremely serious. They can’t stop someone from working and, today, Arcom is stopping me from working.”
C8 took the lead and launched this week
a petition to Arcom.
More than 100,000 signatories gave their approval in less than 24 hours. “Today, by supporting this channel, we are defending not only jobs, but also a unique vision of audiovisual, carried by passionate professionals for almost 20 years”claim those, insisting that “the C8 channel can continue to broadcast, for the respect of viewers and the preservation of jobs”.
Closure of C8: this nuanced opinion on the Arcom decision
Arcom’s decision caused many people to cringe. Énora Malagré did not remain indifferent to the announced killing of her former employer. “I am disagree with many things but I will never be happy if my friends are in trouble”blames the host in an interview with France Bleu this Saturday, November 9, 2024.
If she says to herself “proud to have participated” at TPMP in the past, Cyril Hanouna’s ex-columnist also takes a critical look at the channel’s excesses: “When we do stupid things, we pay the price. We cannot say anything, be radical in our comments, we cannot come close to fascism”. The abuses pointed out by the host have also cost the channel dearly, with Arcom ordered to pay a record fine of 3.5 million euros.
