Liam Gallagher mocks The Cure's triumphant return.
Liam Gallagher faithful to his provocative style
As The Cure celebrate their first UK number one in 32 years with Songs of a Lost Worldnot everyone shares the general enthusiasm. Among the skeptics, Liam Gallagher, ex-singer of Oasis, did not fail to make his voice heard, faithful to his provocative and irreverent style.
On X, a network where he is particularly active, a fan suggested Liam listen to The Cure. The response was not long in coming: “I’m not depressed.” When this same fan mentioned the upbeat song Friday I’m In LoveGallagher retorted with irony: “And why not be in love every day, eh?”
The exchanges continued, with other memorable barbs. To a user who asked him not to criticize The Cure, Liam replied: “What are you going to do, chase me with a fake spider?” Before adding: “I don’t hate them, I just prefer listening to two foxes mating in the bushes at 5:30 in the morning.”

Divergent opinions among the Gallaghers
If Liam has not hesitated to express his disinterest in The Cure, his brother Noel Gallagher has a very different opinion. A great admirer of the group, Noel confided last year to NME : “I remember buying their album Standing On The Beach from HMV in Manchester. When I told people that, they said, 'What? Do you like The Cure?' I said, 'Yeah, liking The Cure doesn't mean you have to wear lipstick!'”
Noel even collaborated with Robert Smith, singer of The Cure, who remixed his single Pretty Boy. This difference of opinion once again illustrates the contrast between the two brothers, both in their musical tastes and in their personalities.
A highly anticipated return for Oasis
While Liam indulges in his usual provocations, Oasis fans are impatiently awaiting the group's reunion planned for next summer. Despite their disagreements and their opposing personalities, the Gallagher brothers continue to fascinate the public, both with their music and with their always spicy statements.
