“First, I will declare a state of emergency at our border” with Mexico, said Donald Trump, who had already announced a similar measure in 2019, during his first term. “All illegal entries will be immediately blocked and we will begin the process of sending millions and millions of foreign criminals back where they came from”added the Republican president, who has made immigration a central theme of his program.

The head of state also confirmed his desire to reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” doctrine, a flagship measure of his previous mandate abolished under his predecessor Joe Biden.
