The Bigdil, cult television show broadcast on TF1 between 1998 and 2004, makes its comeback with Vincent Lagaf’ still hosting. This daily game marked an entire generation with its mix of humor, interactivity, and spectacular challenges. The concept? Candidates are invited to answer general knowledge questions or take on sometimes crazy tests, in order to win gifts or money. We don’t forget the presence of Bill, the 3D animated extraterrestrial, who interacted with Vincent Lagaf’ but also the famous “Gafettes”dancers who accompanied the sequences. Thursday January 2, the cult game made its comeback, not on TF1 but on RMC Story.
The concept remains the same
If the concept remains the same, that Bill and the Gafettes are back, the latter now have a completely different name. Today we are talking about “stage collaborators”as the host told us who clarified that this name change was with the aim of “to avoid any remarks which would claim that women are taken for objects. The word ‘gafette’ is demeaning and we can no longer say it…”. If almost everything has remained the same, one detail concerning the host returning to animation changes on RMC Story musique the production budget is no longer the same as on TF1. “We are doing the same show but with 60% less budget. I am also paid 7 times less,” admitted Vincent Lagaf’ in an interview with Parisian.
“I really wanted to make sure we didn’t change anything”
On the occasion of this return long awaited by fans of the program, TV 7 days slipped behind the scenes during a filming of the show to chat with the host. “We don’t need to have a superb decor, it’s just that we need a mood and that everyone is walking in the same direction. That’s why I say we have to work as a team”he first told us. And to resume: “The one who does my makeup is Claire, she’s been doing my makeup for 30 years… Floflo has been dressing me for 35 years and 20 years later we go back and it works the same even though we haven’t changed absolutely anything”.
“I really wanted to make sure we didn’t change anything. Really, the game is an accessory that allows you to mess around, that’s all”he continued. People present in the audience did not fail to tell us their emotion about the return of the show. One of them admitted to us that “It brings back a lot of memories, it takes us back 20 years.” Then joke: “We will finally be able to show our children what a real game show was back then!”. It was Gilles Vautier who took over the role of Bill and who revealed to us how he plays the famous alien to perfection thanks to an iPhone hung ingeniously in front of his face so as not to miss any of his emotions!
