Master of the strange, author of a striking filmography oscillating between dream and nightmare, American director David Lynch died at the age of 78, Thursday January 16, after revealing this summer that he was suffering from emphysema. To salute his immense career, Culture is devoting a special program to him. Friday January 17, the show Middays of Culture by Marie Labory received the filmmaker Bertrand Mandico, the critic Yal Sadat and the director Gisèle to discuss the artistic legacy of this visionary artist. These exchanges remain available in replay. The series of tributes will continue on Saturday January 18 with Antoine Guillot in Plan Largewho will look back on the milestones of his career, in particular with a rebroadcast of the special issue Return to Twin Peaks and an analysis of Mulholland Drive.

Furthermore, the same day at 5 p.m., the show Musical series by Zoé Sfez will look at her unique musical universe, marked by her collaborations with composers Angelo Badalamenti and Krysztof Penderecki, or even quotes from Chromatics or David Bowie. At the same time, emblematic sound archives of David Lynch can be rediscovered online. Among them, the podcast The Paths of Philosophywhich questions the themes of his work, or even Without daring to askwhich looks back on 25 years of Lost Highway.

Explorer of the deepest fears and desires, David Lynch has left his mark on several generations with works like Blue Velvet, Elephant Man, Sailor et Lula or his series Twin Peaks. Ten feature films and three seasons, often described as disturbing, shaped a legend during his lifetime, which he will remain.
