Winner this Tuesday morning of the tenth edition of the Vendée Globe in a record time of 64 days 19h22’49”, Charlie Dalin delivered his first reaction from his monohull Macif Santé Prévoyance, after being joined by several members of his team and his loved ones after crossing the line off Les Sables d’Olonne: “I have never experienced such emotions. It was madness at this finish line with the daylight starting to break through. I had never experienced that in my life, it was incredible. This is the best finish line of my career, by far.

I have been dreaming of this Vendée Globe 2024 since the day after the finish of the Vendée Globe 2020. It has been four years since I fought with the team. We worked hard, we gave everything to make this great boat, to think about it, to develop it. Everyone gave their all, the boat was perfect. We’ve been living for this for four years, that’s it, we’ve reached the goal, it’s great. I am super happy with this result. It’s great. Winning the Vendée Globe is something unique. I don’t know what to say because I’m so happy to be back in Les Sables-d’Olonne, with an extra record

“It was an incredible match with Yoann. Hats off to him, he was doing his first Vendée and yet it looked like it was his third or fourth”

It was a really intense race. I feel like I left the day before yesterday, like I did a 48-hour race, it was so intense, so fast, it was so fast-paced. We went down the Atlantic at crazy speed, 23 days in the South Seas is incredible. Before crossing the line, I told myself that I felt like I left two days ago. It’s just the temperature that has changed. I had a few problems but really not much. The boat is in perfect condition. I have the best in the world on the team. The boat is incredible, they went to crazy detail in preparation. I had a jewel in my hands for this trip around the world, I was able to pull on it like never before and not much changed. And what moved, I was able to replace because the onboard hardware was very well thought out. Every time I had a problem, I was able to resolve it and get the boat back to 100% to continue attacking. […] I am the happiest in the world

The 2024 copy is mature, it is of much higher quality than 2020. I am really happy with my trajectories, with my choices. It’s a great assessment. It was an incredible match with Yoann. Hats off to him, he was doing his first Vendée and yet it looked like it was his third or fourth. He attacked like crazy in the South, it was really incredible, we had the impression that he had been doing the Vendée Globe all his life. It’s thanks to him that we traveled around the world in such a short time. This kept me pushing, constantly adjusting the boat to get the systems and dig. It is thanks to this intense duel and to Yoann that the record was broken. »
