The Pumas are fine-tuning the details to officially announce their first signing ahead of Clausura 2025, following the arrival of Mexican goalkeeper Álex Padilla in the Mexican capital this Tuesday to undergo medical examinations and sign the documents that will bind this new player to the university team.

Upon his arrival in Mexico City to finalize the process of his signing as a reinforcement for Club Universidad Nacional, the national goalkeeper expressed his intention to join one of the biggest teams in Mexican football.

Committed to the university’s need to gain notoriety in Mexican soccer, Álex Padilla said his transfer to the Pumas required little personal analysis, knowing that this institution is one of the largest in the country.

“When the opportunity to defend the Pumas presents itself, I don’t think twice. This challenge is very important to me; it’s inspiring,” said the goalkeeper in his first statements on national soil.

Although he is already on the national scene, the 21-year-old goalkeeper denied that his main objective is to become the starting goalkeeper of the national team, emphasizing that he comes to work and perform with the Pedregal team , letting possible later rewards come by themselves.

While the Mexican can join the team’s training sessions immediately, the match against Necaxa on the opening day is expected to feature academy player Pablo Lara in goal for the Pumas this Sunday at noon at Ciudad Universitaria.
