Golf is set to be “reinvented” with the launch of Tomorrow's Golf League (TGL), a new technology-driven indoor event led by Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods.
The two champions are partners within TMRW Sports, a company created to develop innovative projects at the crossroads of sport and entertainment.
The TGL is an indoor simulator league that will pit some of the best golfers in the world against each other. Players will tackle tees with natural grass, tee shots and approach shots aimed at a 64 x 53 foot screen.
For shots less than 50 yards, the ball will be placed in a short game area which includes an adjustable putting green.
Here's everything you need to know.
What is TGL and when does it start?
The first season of the TGL will begin on Tuesday, January 7 (or in the early hours of Wednesday, January 8 in the UK), with all matches taking place at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach, Florida. The final will take place at the end of March.
The event pits six teams and 24 PGA Tour players against each other, with three of the four players from each team participating in each match. Each match will take place over 15 holes, divided into two sessions: nine holes in trios where three players compete with alternating shots, and six holes in individual golf. The tournament will follow a round-robin format, where the top four teams in the standings will advance to the semi-finals.
How to watch it?
Viewers in the UK will be able to follow the event on Sky Sports. Live streaming will also be available via Sky Go.
