Parliament once again attacks work-life balance

During its December session, Parliament put an end to the program to encourage the development of early childhood care infrastructure.

It is well known: politics expects women to work more and more. This should make it possible on the one hand to remedy the lack of labor and on the other hand, strong demographic growth is necessary to guarantee theAVS. But how can we reconcile these two imperatives, when women continue to assume a large part of the tasks related to children? It seems that Parliament expects our children to look after themselves.

Once again, our politicians are ignoring the needs of workers by asserting that family is a private matter!

Syna reminds us, again and again: people must be at the heart of concerns! We are fighting for more social justice, and in particular for a better balance between professional and private life. Our authorities must hear it: we demand childcare facilities for our children, in sufficient numbers, at an affordable price and of quality, in all regions. We also demand the right to part-time work without any discrimination. The economic future of Switzerland depends largely on family policy. However, this is very weakened by the decision of Parliament to put an end to the incentive measures.

In spring 2025, Syna will participate in the launch of theinitiative for family leave: a small step which heralds a major upheaval for the paternalistic convictions of our leaders! Join our campaign committees!
