Nice-Presse reveals the overall budget mobilized for the arrival of several artists at the Nice Jazz Festival 2024, a major summer meeting organized by the municipality.
Post-Covid saw prices skyrocket and things haven’t changed much since. In recent years, for public and private events, the costs generated by the arrival of French and international artists have skyrocketed. We are talking here about the level of their fee, obviously, but not only (team, technical costs, etc.).
We had already published the amount of the painful in 2023. Gabriel : 55,000 euros total cost for the evening. Omah Lay would have received the same envelope, we learned, but he withdrew late. The “headliners” obviously cost much more. On the side of Juliette Armanet (Corida Prod.), it cost 80,000 euros. However, it is exceeded by Tom Jones (Live Nation), with around 114,000 euros. The prize was held by Herbie Hancock (Loop Prod.), with 115,000 euros.
In 2022the City of Nice negotiated 85,000 euros to bring Clara Luciani for 1h30. 88,000 for Ibrahim Maaloufor even 70,000 euros, in 2021, for Catherine Ringeryou were told.
And this summer’s winner is…
For his show on Friday August 23, PACK obtained around 60,000 euros. Two days earlier, Jungle had a market value of 120,000 euros. Samphaaround 70,000 euros. American rapper NAS is the one who is doing the best, with almost 160,000 euros. Phoenix is not that far away, with a total market value of 135,000 euros.
Several new features were rather well received this year – despite very limited media coverage – including a new premium catering offer and the invitation of comedians.
However, it is not easy to say whether it was a complete success: according to the organizers, 40,000 spectators were brought together this year, a figure which includes paid tickets but also the free public for the “Jazz Off” and its outdoor sequences, by definition difficult to quantify.
The timid score of the first evening also motivated a certain recourse to invitations, again according to internal sources. It remains to be seen whether it is still relevant to have such an event, so costly and with limited benefits, managed by a community. Still, the NJF will be back from July 24 to 27, 2025.
