It’s a week where the League Cup is in the spotlight in Portugal. The capital and more precisely, the Luz stadium opens its doors at around 8:45 p.m. to host the duel between Benfica Lisbon and Sporting Braga, a classic of Portuguese football. In order to reach the final, the group coached by Bruno Lage cannot afford to have a level similar to the last 180 minutes! Indeed, the Lisbonites have just suffered two defeats in a row, the latest of which was in front of their supporters against… Braga. With a spirit of revenge and a new chance to dismiss one of their rivals, the Eagles will have no room for error this Wednesday evening. It is time for the SLB to regain its status as the best squad in the country, especially during major meetings.
While Sporting Braga has been inconsistent for several weeks, a single performance seems to have had the necessary impact to sow doubt in the heads of our experts. After a fairly humiliating setback at home against Casa Pia after Christmas, the men led by Carlos Carvalhal offered the best possible response to the green and red people by winning on Lisbon soil. Relying on the return to the fore of Navarro, but also of a Bruma – Martinez duo twirling on the wings, the Minhotos hope to achieve a new feat at the end of the 90 minutes. Nothing will be easy from the start except that SCB has proven to itself that it is capable of great things.
