1 Ddakji
Ddakji is the first game that spectators discover Squid Game on screen. It requires two or more participants. Each of them must have two pieces of paper folded and assembled into a square. A first player begins by throwing the piece he has previously formed onto the ground. The opponents’ objective is to turn it around according to the same principle as pogs, which were very successful in schoolyards in the mid-1990s.
2 Dalgona
As Netflix indicates on its official website, Dalgona is a “deceptively simple game”. In fact, players first select a shape from the circle, triangle, star and umbrella. They then receive a Korean honeycomb sugar cookie, the famous My dear cookiethe center of which bears the imprint of the pattern chosen beforehand. Using a small needle, participants must then cut it out perfectly, without damaging the contours in any way. They have ten minutes to succeed.
3 The marbles
In the game of marbles Squid Gametwo participants face each other. Each of them has ten marbles and their objective is to steal those of their opponent before the end of the allotted time, set at 30 minutes. To do this, the members of the duo can play according to the rules they want as long as they do not resort to violence.
4 The squid game
It is undoubtedly the most emblematic competition of Squid Gamesince it gives its name to the series. The squid game initially takes place in playgrounds, in spaces where the contours of the marine mollusk are drawn. Two teams face each other: one attacks, the other defends.
The first must hop outside the field, while the second can run normally inside it, without going out of bounds. To win the first stage, you must manage to get past the animal’s neck.
As the Netflix site explains, a final battle then follows: “Attackers should rush from the squid entrance and attempt to hit the top of the field with their foot. If a player is pushed out, they “die”, but if they manage to reach the top, they are victorious. »
5 Gong-gi – or the knucklebones
Among the tests of Squid Game includes the pentathlon, which is nothing other than a relay race that the different teams, made up of five participants, must complete in less than five minutes. In turn, each member must succeed in a mini-game so that one of their partners can move on to the next one.
One of them is the Gong-gi, the principle of which is reminiscent of that of the knucklebones. To win, you have to throw five dice in the air and catch them, and the sequences become more and more complicated. You must first throw one, and catch the others, placed on the ground, one by one, then throw one, and catch those on the ground, two by two, then three, then four… The last movement consists of throwing all the dice at the same time and recover them with the back of the hand.
