Philipp Zinckernagel is no longer a Club Brugge player. The Danish midfielder officially left the Brugge side on Monday, joining MLS side Chicago Fire, just after returning from a loan spell at Bodo/Glimt in Norway.
The Blauw en Zwart have announced the departure of their midfielder, who arrived in August 2023 from Olympiakos in Greece. Before signing for Bruges, Zinckernagel spent the 2022-2023 season on loan at Standard, where he played 28 matches, scored 10 goals and provided 2 assists. His impressive performances attracted the attention of FCB, who integrated him into their ranks, with whom he became Belgian champion for the 2023-2024 season.
After 44 games in the Bruges jersey, having contributed with 7 goals and 9 assists, Philipp Zinckernagel was loaned to his former club Bodo/Glimt for the first half of the current season. His return to the Venice of the North was brief, as he is now set to explore the United States and Major League Soccer with the Chicago Fire.

He will cross paths with Hugo Cuypers, the former La Gantoise striker who arrived in Illinois last winter. At only 30 years old, Zinckernagel continues his football journey around the world. After beginning his training and making his professional debut in Denmark, he first moved to Bodo/Glimt before settling in England, where he played for Watford and Nottingham Forest. He then transferred to Olympiakos and continued his Belgian quest at Standard and Brugge.
