AMD will unveil new processors, GPUs and the FSR 4 today

AMD plans to make many announcements at CES, here is what could be announced, as well as live video to follow this event live.

AMD is preparing to unveil its new products during CES 2025, with a conference scheduled for January 6. The company will introduce products aimed at gamers, as well as other segments like business platforms and artificial intelligence.

RDNA 4: a new generation of Radeon RX 9000 GPUs

The Radeon RX 9000, based on the RDNA 4 architecture, should include two main variants: the Navi 48 for the high-end and the Navi 44 for the entry-level. These GPUs will aim for competitive positioning in the market, responding to current and future competing offers. The lineup will include models for desktop and laptops, as well as refreshes based on the RDNA 3 architecture and an RDNA 3.5 midstream release for Ryzen AI Max “Strix Halo” APUs.

Among the expected models, the Radeon RX 9070 XT appears to be the highest performing card of this generation, according to leaks. It will be accompanied by other references adapted to different uses.

Ryzen 9000: processors for gaming and multitasking

On the processor side, AMD will introduce new models in the Ryzen 9000 family with 3D V-Cache, including the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D. Respectively equipped with 16 and 12 cores, these processors aim to combine optimized gaming performance and enhanced multi-threaded computing power.

The cache structure remains similar to previous models, with a combination of CCD dies incorporating both 3D stacked caches and high frequencies. These processors should not present any regressions in terms of frequencies compared to their Ryzen 9000X predecessors.

FSR 4: a step towards artificial intelligence

AMD also plans to release the fourth version of its supersampling technology, FSR 4. Unlike previous versions, FSR 4 will take an artificial intelligence-based approach, joining NVIDIA’s DLSS and Intel’s XeSS solutions. This change aims to improve visual quality and frame generation while facilitating integration with game engines.

Mobility and other announcements

In addition to desktop GPUs and processors, AMD will also unveil new features for mobile devices. Among these, the Ryzen AI Max “Strix Halo” should offer improved performance thanks to RDNA 3.5. The range will also include the Fire Range “Zen 5 HX” and the Ryzen Z2, the latter being intended for next-generation portable consoles.

How to follow this event?

CES 2025 promises to be full of announcements for AMD, with products covering a wide range of needs. Tech enthusiasts and gamers are invited to follow the event live to discover these innovations.
