Jacques Audiard’s film, already doubly awarded at the Cannes Film Festival in the spring, left Beverly Hills with four trophies in its pocket, winning the first and the very last of the evening.
Crowned best actress in a supporting role, Zoe Saldanã was even able to return to the stage alongside Camille and Clément Ducol to receive the Golden Globe for best song for “El Mal”. Jacques Audiard preferred to give way to his heroine Karla Sofia Gascon at the time of the final thanks. “Light always prevails over darkness (…). You can beat us but you will never be able to take away our soul, our existence, our identity (…). I am who I am and not who you want me to be”said the Spanish actress. “The Brutalist”, a strong contender for the Oscars
In ambush, the dramatic fresco The Brutalist sis distinguished with three major trophies, including the award for best actor in a dramatic film for its star Adrien Brody. The American actor also had the greatest difficulty in hiding his emotion when discussing this fiction recalling what his grandparents and his mother experienced while fleeing the war in Hungary.
