The not-to-be-missed clash in the NBA’s Western Conference pits the Houston Rockets against the Los Angeles Lakers. The meeting will be held at the Toyota Center this Monday at 1:00 a.m. After several seasons of sinking to the bottom of the rankings, the recruitment of VanVleet last season brought some color back to Houston. This season is a confirmation, since the franchise occupies 2nd place in the conference with a record of 22 wins for 12 losses. However, the Rockets have had much more difficulty since their big 111-128 victory on the floor of the red lantern, the New Orleans Pelicans. Indeed, they have two short defeats at home: 112-113 against the Minnesota Timberwolves and 100-104 against the Miami Heat. Ime Udoka’s men bounce back by winning 110-99 against the Dallas Mavericks. Unfortunately, the joy was short-lived with a slap received, 86-109, against the Boston Celtics. The absences of Thompson (last match of suspension), Eason and Smith were costly. VanVleet, meanwhile, was completely controlled, with only 8 points scored.
For their part, the Los Angeles Lakers are also finding color this season, occupying 5th place in the conference with a record of 20 wins for 14 losses. With the exception of the logical 110-122 defeat against the leader Cleveland Cavaliers, the Lakers were imperial. Indeed, they beat the Golden State Warriors, a direct competitor, 113-115. JJ Redick’s men had no difficulty in getting rid of the poorly ranked Sacramento Kings (132-122) and Portland Trail Blazers (114-106). They confirm their good start to 2025 by outclassing the Atlanta Hawks 119-102. LeBron reached the 30-point mark, while Anthony Davis achieved a double-double with 18 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists.
