Tunisia: The dollar could fall below 3.2 dinars in the coming days, according to Moez Hdidane

Financial markets specialist Moez Hdidane explained that the recent rise in the dollar had affected almost all world currencies and was not specifically linked to a depreciation of the Tunisian dinar against the US currency.

In a statement to TAP on Tuesday, Hdidane clarified that this increase in the dollar was largely due to the statements of US President-elect Donald Trump, who will take office on January 20, 2025, regarding his customs policy.

He observed that the new American administration believes that this policy will be less strict than what Trump mentioned during his campaign, and that the customs duties will affect certain sectors considered essential to the national and economic security of the United States. This situation led to an appreciation of the dollar until January 2, 2025 against all other currencies.

Moez Hdidane added that Trump seemed determined to implement the rigid tariff policy he had announced, which could lead to a decline in the dollar in the coming weeks. He also estimated that the Tunisian dinar could stabilize and even fall below 3.2 dinars per dollar in the days to come.
