The Swiss team will once again look very good during the Adelboden weekend. In the Bernese Oberland, several Swiss skiers can hope to get on the podium and thrill the tens of thousands of spectators expected. During the traditional giant on Saturday, Marco Odermatt will try to win a fourth in a row on the Chuenisbärgli. Such a feat would allow him to equal the record held by legend Ingemar Stenmark.
He will not be the only Swiss to have big ambitions in the Bernese Oberland. Loïc Meillardthird in the discipline in 2021 and 2023, hopes to succeed in getting on a new podium. Despite back pain, the Valaisan is in good shape, particularly in slalom. He will also be one of the main favorites on Sunday. As a giant, the winner of Beaver Creek Thomas Tumbler hopes to show his progress to the Swiss public, although he has never shone in Adelboden. Justin Murisier gave up in order to rest.
Luca Aerni will have two chances to shine
Brilliant in the discipline this winter, the Valaisan of Bernese origin Luca Aerni will be lined up for the second time after 2018 as a giant. In slalom, he has already often been at ease in front of his audience. Fadri Janutin, Livio Simonet, Sandro Zurbrügg et Lenz Hächler will especially look to nibble a few points. For the latter, this will be his third start in the World Cup, the second as a giant. Victorious twice in the European Cup in Zinal at the start of the season, he is chasing his first points among the elite.
In slalom, in addition to Loïc Meillard and Luca Aerni, the usual specialists will be there, four days after the night event at Madonna di Campiglio. Still strong in the Oberland, Daniel Yule dreams of reliving the emotions of his victory in 2020. After two eliminations in the second round over the last two seasons, Tanguy Nef wants to hit him hard. Marc Rochat et Ramon Zenhäuser for their part need to score big points and gain confidence. Finally, one last slalom rider will take part in the event. It could be Noel von Grünigen, selected for Madonna, Fadri Janutin or even Lenz Hächler.
