FARDC-M23 fighting: the army gains ground on the Bweremana axis

The Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) are gaining ground on the Bweremana axis, Bahunde chiefdom, located in the territory of Masisi (North Kivu. They have contained and pushed back the M23 rebels who were trying to overrun, residents say from this locality who have just arrived this Sunday morning January 5 in Minova.

They also confirm the reconquest of Ndumba hill and part of Shasha by the FARDC.

Meanwhile, the situation remains relatively calm but unpredictable this Sunday on the Masisi-center axis, where the weapons have been silent since the evening before. This morning, there is apparent calm in the capital of the territory which remains under rebel occupation.

Sources in the region report that after the capture of Masisi center, the M23 rebels held a rally in front of the administrative office of the territory, reassuring security to some residents remaining in this locality.

In the meantime, most of the populations of Nyabiondo, Bukombo and Loashi have left these areas towards the territory of Walikale. They move preventively, fearing the possible advance of the rebels.
