Landslide under the Boudry viaduct

A landslide in Boudry! It was triggered at Christmas on the sloping ground under the viaduct and along Rue des Rochettes. This embankment is made up of molassic rock which becomes even more clayey in the event of heavy precipitation. Surveillance has been put in place by the Cantonal Bridges and Roads Service and the Municipality of Boudry. As a precautionary measure, certain parking spaces below the embankment have been closed off. This Monday, it was decided to clean up the area affected by the landslide.

The road viaduct, which overlooks the area, is not threatened. The foundations are deep enough. As for the landslide, even if it will be necessary to remove around 250m3 of materials, it remains superficial with a thickness of 1 to 2 meters. To carry out this work, the foresters start at the top and then go down towards rue des Rochettes.

The commune of Boudry is particularly prone to landslides due to molasses rocks. Other, more extensive work is also planned, particularly on the Marfaux slope.

Giona Preisig hopes the weather will improve, “which doesn't seem to be the case. » Heavy rains during winter could trigger landslides elsewhere in the canton. /sma
