The agent representing rising star Abdukodir Khusanov has highlighted interest from Manchester City, confirming the defender’s enthusiasm to join one of ’s elite clubs this January.

Aged just 20, the Uzbek international has made a name for himself with his outstanding performances in Ligue 1 for RC under Will Still. After joining Energetik-BUG for a cool £83,000 (€100,000) last July, he quickly became a profitable asset, catching the eye of big clubs.

City are reportedly preparing a surprising £20million bid for the dynamic centre-back, who has earned the nickname ‘monster’ among his team-mates. However, they are not alone; their arch-rivals Saint-Germain, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also seeking his signature. Gairat Khasbiullin, director of Football Group LLC, indicated that Lens will not oppose Khusanov’s aspirations, affirming a mutual agreement between all parties involved.

“Abdukodir is clearly one of the best young defenders in Europe today. Its growth trajectory is impressive,” Khasbiullin said in an interview with the Mirror. “He deserves every opportunity to showcase his talents at an elite club. We share a fantastic relationship with Lens, and our objective is aligned – to ensure the best for the player. If this transfer comes to fruition, Lens will reap the rewards of their faith in his abilities. »

The young defender has family motivation on his side; his father, Khikmatjon Khoshimov, a former central defender for Uzbekistan, is his role model. Meanwhile, City’s coaching staff are closely monitoring Khusanov’s development, well aware of the financial parameters surrounding a potential deal.

Manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly keen on at least three new signings in the winter transfer window, with eyes also on Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush and Atalanta’s Ederson. Khusanov, who made history as the first Uzbek to appear in UEFA competitions at just 19 years old, has won admiration at the Etihad for his speed, versatility and immense potential.

On paper, facilitating this transfer seems within reach. Lens are actively looking to strengthen their finances, and with Wolves having abandoned their pursuit of Kevin Danso, the young Uzbek could end up being the key asset to bridge that gap.
