Hollywood is in mourning. Several American media, including TMZannounced the death of director Jeff Baena, also known as the husband of actress Aubrey Plaza.

Aubrey Plaza is in mourning. As reported by the American site TMZ, her husband Jeff Baena was found dead at his home in the Los Angeles area. Police sources told the tabloid that an assistant discovered the director’s lifeless body on the morning of Friday, January 3. He was declared dead on the spot by emergency services. The police then told the site TMZ that the American filmmaker would have committed suicide. Jeff Baena leaves behind his mother Barbara Stern, his father Scott Baena, his brother Brad Baena, his half-sister Bianca Gabay, his half-brother Jed Fluxman and his wife Aubrey Plaza.

Born in Miami, Florida, Jeff Baena took film classes at New York University and moved to Los Angeles shortly after graduation. He started his career by becoming the production assistant of Robert Zemeckis, the man behind the trilogy Back to the Future, Forrest Gump or even The Express Pole. In 2004, he participated in the writing of the comedy J’adore Huckabees by David O. Russell. The filmmaker then turned to directing by directing his partner Aubrey Plaza and John C. Reilly in the horror comedy Life After Beth. He continued his momentum by directing four other feature films, including the psychological drama Horse Girl (2020) on Netflix and the rom-com Spin Me Round (2022).
