The resignation of the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, from his post as leader of the Liberal Party (PLC) caused opposition parties to react on Monday, including Pierre Poilievre who declared that “it changes nothing.”

For the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, Justin Trudeau’s resignation as leader of the Liberal Party “changes nothing,” he said in a publication on X, accompanied by a video.

“Every Liberal MP and leadership candidate supported EVERYTHING Trudeau did for 9 years, and now they want to deceive voters by trading in another Liberal face to continue scamming Canadians for another 4 years, just like Justin Trudeau,” he wrote in his publication.

“Canadians who are desperate to turn the page on this dark chapter in our history feel relieved today with the departure of Justin Trudeau. But what has really changed?,” he said in the video.

“So, given that the Liberals have all supported everything Trudeau has done, why drop him right before an election? Have they changed their mind?” asked the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.

For Mr. Poilievre, the Liberals’ only objection is that he “is no longer popular enough to win an election and keep them in power,” he said.

“So it’s, above all, power. They want to protect their pensions and their paychecks by hiding their hated leader under the rug in order to fool Canadians a few months before an election,” he continued.
