This Monday, the second part of the “48h chrono” stage took place and Sébastien Loeb notably limited the damage in the car category, he who is now 6th in the general classification more than 18 minutes behind leader Henk Lategan (Toyota). But while this Dakar 2025 got off to a flying start, whether in cars or motorcycles, the third stage will take place on Tuesday. And there is a change on the menu given that we have learned, as relayed by Motorsport.com, that this third stage will be shortened. The organizers of the Dakar 2025 have decided to lighten the program for Tuesday, in particular due to the weather conditions.
The third step shortened
The third stage scheduled for Tuesday will take the pilots to Al Henakiyah. However, storms are currently raging and the organizers have decided not to play with the health of the drivers, shortening the stage. They cut the next stage. Initially planned for 496 km, it will ultimately only have 327 timed kilometers, with a technical start to the course but everyone described as rolling to make the transition. “Thunderstorms are abundantly watering the Al Henakiyah region and their activity is likely to continue. As a result, the organizers have decided to activate a lighter alternative solution for tomorrow's program. A more accessible stage has been designed to give breathing space to organisms and machines, which will be called upon again during the marathon format stage on January 8 and 9. The finish of the special will be judged at kilometer 327 of the initial route (496 km), which will eliminate 169 kilometers of passages hit by rain“, explained the organizers this Monday. But even shortened, the third stage promises its share of surprises.
