QFifteen months after presenting its territorial project, in October 2023, the Community of Communes of Seignanx is approaching this new year with, on the calendar of its president Isabelle Dufau, several major projects. Here is what we can note, without claiming any exhaustiveness, concerning this intermunicipality formed by eight communes of the Landes and bordering the Basque metropolis.
1 At the inter-company restaurant table
The first services are hoped for in April, at the inter-company restaurant. With its room with 560 seats, more than a hundred seats on its terrace and kitchens capable of feeding 1,300 people at each lunch, this facility costing more than 9 million euros was built in Tarnos by the Community of communes of Seignanx, on land transferred and decontaminated by the Safran group, thanks to the support of various public authorities.
The buildings should logically primarily serve the 3,000 employees of this Tarnosian industrial and port zone on avenue du 1is-May. This restaurant – named Andrée-Dupeyron, in memory of this civil and military aviator buried in Mont-de-Marsan – will however be open to all. A self-service offer, organized into thematic centers, will be offered by employee members and beneficiaries of the solidarity cooperative of the Éole project.
2 What name for the swimming pool?
It is in the summer that the construction site of the community aquatic facility expected to welcome its first bathers in 2026 should begin in the city center of Tarnos. The plans and visuals of this project were presented in November 2023. by Isabelle Dufau. At the end of last year, the municipality of Tarnos issued a building permit on this 6,000 square meter plot, located at the corner of boulevard Jacques-Duclos and avenue Cécile-et-Henri-Rol -Tanguy.
Before the first shovel is given, the Seignanx intercommunality must launch a consultation in the coming weeks with companies likely to participate in the construction of this swimming pool. Dedicated primarily to teaching swimming by schoolchildren, the equipment must be named in the coming months, through proposals made by local students.
3 Limit urbanization
In the life of an intercommunity, this is a major step that the elected representatives of Seignanx will have to take in the months to come. On Wednesday February 5, 2025, they will in fact have to adopt the first local intercommunal urban planning plan (PLUi), written jointly for the eight municipalities. Then approved at the end of the year, this framework document must set a course for the development of housing and the economy in this territory which extends from the coast, in the West, to the villages of the East, and has 28,000 inhabitants.
Densification and sobriety thus appear to be the key words of this PLUi, “with 55% land consumption compared to the previous decade, 20% fewer areas that can be urbanized or to be urbanized and 430 hectares returned to agricultural, forestry and natural areas. » The services of the Community of Communes of Seignanx also indicate that this year 2025 will allow the territory to adopt its “fifth local housing program”.
4 It moves for transport
The simplified mobility scheme in Seignanx will begin to take shape in the coming months. In collaboration with the Basque Country Mobility Union Adour and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, an on-demand transport service will be opened for residents of eastern municipalities. For their short trips, they will also be able to use electrically assisted bicycles similar to those deployed in the Basque urban area.
Carpool parking lots will be created, as will cycle paths, completed as in Ondres or started in Tarnos. The development of a tourist area in Saint-Barthélemy, along the Adour, is planned. While 1 million euros will be spent on renovating community roads.
5 Energies
The drafting of the rainwater master plan for the eight municipalities of Seignanx remains to be done. The one concerning renewable energies was approved in 2024. It makes it possible to support municipal projects, through a grouping of orders and engineering assistance, for example the installation of photovoltaic panels including the installation is being studied in Saint-André-de-Seignanx and Biarrotte.
