Laurens Sweeck won the 6th round of the X2O Bathrooms Trophyin Koksijde! Quickly alone in the lead with Tibor Del Grosso (Alpecin-Deceuninck), the Belgian of the team Crelan-Corendon ended up overcoming the young 21-year-old Dutchman after more than an hour of effort to complete the eight laps of the circuit. The sand specialist had often performed well in this event, but was in his own words, “always beaten by a super-Mathieu (van der Poel) or a super-Wout (Van Aert)”.

“I’m having a very good season”
“I am happy to add this victory to my list of achievements and to have been able to conclude properly“, he says. “Today I had a good opponent in Tibor Del Grosso. I tried to keep him as a traveling companion, but in the first half of the race we were very close in level.” It was only a lap and a half from the end that Sweeck managed to get rid of the Dutchman. “I wasn’t completely confident yet. I just tried to stay focused on my own race and manage the passages in the sand well. It was only at the end that I really felt confident in myself .”
For the Belgian Crelan-Corendonthis is already his fifth victory of the season. How does he see this? “I don’t have an exact recipe for this form, but I started the year well. With five victories, I’m having a very good season, even if everything hasn’t always been perfect this year”he concludes.
