A fatal accident occurred on Thursday January 2 on the A16 motorway in Pas-de-Calais. A sixty-year-old woman, driving in the wrong direction, lost her life after colliding with another vehicle.
Two accidents, including one fatal
A driver drove the wrong way on the A16 motorway on Thursday January 2, causing two accidents, reports TF1. According to the prefecture, she lost her life after hitting a vehicle, also resulting in the death of the latter's driver. Firefighters said the 61-year-old woman went the wrong way late in the afternoon on the A16. It triggered a first accident at the Herquelingue toll gate near Boulogne-sur-Mer (Pas de Calais) without causing any injuries.
One dead and one injured
The sixty-year-old continued on her way before violently colliding with another vehicle. The prefecture indicated that this collision cost the life of the 52-year-old driver. According to firefighters, the 46-year-old passenger was taken to hospital in absolute emergency.
The A16 in the Paris -Boulogne-sur-Mer direction was closed and a traffic jam of a few kilometers formed upstream of the accident, added the road surveillance unit of the zonal prefecture.
