After several years of uncertainty, the specialized reception center Le Nid Cerdan is rolling out a new project to transform its offer. Supported by the Regional Health Agency, local policies and Ugecam, a new building is being studied to meet the needs of supported people.
For three years already, theUnion for the management of health insurance fund establishments (Ugecam) is working on the prospects for maintaining activities in the region, while developing new responses or adapting existing support. “ Recognition of expertise in supporting a diversity of disabilities, such as autistic disorders and intellectual disabilities, will allow our accreditation to evolve. », explains Christine Fabre, director of the Nid Cerdan specialized reception center (MAS) (Ugecam Occitanie group).
The opening to the outside world has already benefited residents, thanks to their participation in cultural or sporting projects in collaboration with different companies, in association with the Catalan Mountains Local Health Contract and local establishments. “ On the occasion of his visit to the Cerdan territory to discuss all health issues, the director general of the ARS, Didier Jaffre, announced the desire to create beds in the Cerdan Nid. It is a way of responding to the significant needs in terms of disability at the departmental and regional level in particular and, at the same time, of stabilizing the creation of the new structure. », Specified the mayor of Saillagouse and president of the Pyrénées-Cerdagne intercommunality, Georges Armengol.
New construction in 2027
The director general of the ARS had set the condition that the permit be submitted quickly and that the first stone be laid during the first four months of 2025. “ I am delighted with this news because it responds to a need both locally and throughout the territory in terms of welcoming people with disabilities and on the themes which are particularly developed here », added the first city councilor.
Le Nid Cerdan now reveals the timetable for its development, with the objective of new construction, on site, planned for 2027. « The teams are actively engaged in defining this ambitious project. This change promises to improve support for residents and boost interactions with the local fabric, while effectively responding to the needs of the different audiences welcomed. », concluded Christine Fabre. Good news for MAS le Nid Cerdan and the entire region.
