Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has been impressed with the way this afternoon’s opponents Fulham have gone about their business on and off the pitch in recent seasons.

Following their promotion to the Premier League in 2022, the Cottagers established themselves in the top flight with finishes of 10th, 13th and ninth.

Marco Silva’s men go into today’s clash at Craven Cottage in ninth position and unbeaten in their last seven games – a run which includes a 2-1 win over Chelsea and draws with chasing Liverpool and Arsenal of title.

And McKenna is well aware of the scale of the task ahead of his players as they go in search of a victory that will take them out of the relegation zone.

McKenna, who confirmed goalkeeper Christian Walton would keep the gloves in west London, said: “It’s not necessarily something that’s probably a compliment to what he (Silva) has done.

“They have done a lot of things well and of course they have built a team well since their first appearance in the Championship and the Premier League.

“They had a season where they were relegated to the Championship but kept a good part of the group together and part of that group are still together now and have come back to the Premier League which always puts you in a good position.

“They have enriched the squad well in each transfer window and added good players along the way.

“Marco is doing a great job in terms of coaching the team. They are very well organised, well structured with and without the ball, very good at set pieces and they have a clear plan and organization in every phase of the game.

“It’s a truly complete and well-organized team which is naturally having an excellent season. This is a big challenge for us.

Ipswich last visited Fulham for a Premier League match in October 2001 when Jermaine Wright’s second-half goal secured a 1–1 draw.
