The Dijon University Hospital (Côte-d’Or) has decided to make wearing a mask compulsory on its premises since Tuesday, December 31. The goal is to limit the spread of bronchiolitis and flu viruses, reports Here Burgundy. This measure should last at least until the end of January. After this date, management will decide whether it should be kept or not.
“Over the past week, we have observed an increase in nosocomial cases of influenza and respiratory viruses,” explains the University Hospital in a press release. “Hand hygiene in addition to wearing a mask is an effective prevention measure against the transmission of respiratory viruses,” he adds.
Contaminations on the rise
In its latest bulletin published Thursday, January 2, Santé Publique France announces that “the flu epidemic is intensifying” throughout the country. Furthermore, “activity linked to acute respiratory infections was significantly increasing in community medicine and hospitals across all age groups” between December 23 and 19.
To protect yourself from these viruses, be sure to follow these tips shared by Health Insurance: wash your hands regularly, use a disposable tissue, avoid shaking hands or kissing, etc. It is also recommended to ventilate living rooms and avoid visiting vulnerable people.
