Social leasing will have largely contributed to the Peugeot e-2008 remaining in the Top 10 for electric car sales in France, just like the 208. But the second half will not have been kind to the two flagship electric cars. of the lion mark. The e-208 has in fact sold 23,602 copies over the whole of 2024, but with 17,341 sales made in the first half. At the second, only 6,300 were sold.
Same observation for the e-2008 which made the bulk of its sales thanks to social leasing over the first part of the year: 6903 of the 8944 registrations were made between January and June. So obviously, it was time to react for Peugeot, especially as the market is densifying and competition is becoming threatening with the Renault 4 and R5. Peugeot is starting the year with two big discounts on the entry-level e-208 and e-2008. A “small” gesture compared to the rest of the range which remains quite expensive.
Thousands of euros less
The discount is colossal since the Peugeot e-208 now starts at €28,000 excluding bonus in entry-level Style finish and with the 50 kWh battery. This is the only trim level that sees its price change, which causes a big gap between this 208 electric Style and the rest of the range. But with the maximum bonus in force in 2024, households will be able to acquire an e-208 for €24,000, which still seems to be a good deal. And above all, it's roughly the price of a high-end Citroën e-C3 with a lower range!
For the 2008, again, the discount only concerns the Style version. The price therefore increases from €39,250 to €36,000 and even €32,780 by opting for the brand's “Store”. Peugeot also reminds in its conditions of sale: “The cash prices of vehicles sold online on Peugeot Store are valid only in the event of online cash sales of vehicles on this website”.
The stakes are high for Peugeot, which will probably experience a more difficult year in 2025: the 3008 is currently not achieving the volumes of its predecessor and competition is stronger with the Austral than with the Kadjar. And then, on the electric front, here again Renault is more threatening than ever, at least in France.
