Police officers, firefighters and doctors from Samu 35 intervened, Thursday January 2, 2025, around 8:40 p.m., square de Slovakie, in the Blosne district, in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine). The reason? The fatal attack on a person, at the foot of a four-story apartment building. His attacker used a bladed weapon, which could be a screwdriver or an awl. The victim is a 24-year-old man, who is known to the courts.
Residents, seeing the injured man lying on the ground, raised the alarm, then tried to provide first aid while help arrived. In addition to the firefighters and the Samu, around twenty police officers were present, including judicial police teams and scientific and technical police.
No arrest
The reasons for this attack are not yet known. It took place in Slovakia Square, not far from deal points, but nothing indicates that the facts are directly linked to drug trafficking. There are, for the moment, no witnesses to the attack and no arrests.
An investigation has been opened. It is entrusted to the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS).
Already a knife attack on December 30
This new stabbing news item is part of a long and sad series. On December 29, 2024, two young men aged 15 and 21 were stabbed on the Kennedy slab, in the Villejean district.
Already a month earlier, in mid-November, a young man aged 25 had been stabbed in the abdomen, in the city center of Rennes, around 11:50 p.m. Less than a week earlier, Nearly a kilometer from the scene, rue Papu, a 49-year-old man had lost his life, also the victim of a stabbing. He had been punched in the back. Before the investigating judge, the main suspect, arrested on November 16, 2024 in Paris, had mentioned “a dispute linked to drug trafficking”. Two months earlier, on the night of Wednesday to Thursday September 5, 2024, a 38-year-old man was fatally stabbed, Place Rallier-du-Baty, in the city center of Rennes.
