Despite eleven days of rain, ten days of frost and nineteen days without sunshine, there was no snow at Christmas, and only 3 centimeters in December. We have to go back to 2010 to find a white Christmas, with 12 centimeters of snow, a temperature of -5 degrees in the morning and a maximum of -3.5 degrees without thawing during the day. The average temperature recorded for the month of December 2024 is 4.6 degrees, compared to 4.1 in normal times.
A record year for rainfall
According to Marcel Sebellin, weather correspondent for The public good In Semur-en-Auxois, the rainfall of 59 millimeters for the month of December is close to the normal rainfall, which is 68 millimeters. The year 2024, however, was distinguished by a record rainfall, making it the rainiest year since 1975! The three rainiest years are therefore 2024 (1,113 millimeters for 150 rainy days), 1981 (1,102 millimeters for 155 rainy days) and 2013 (1,010 millimeters for 146 rainy days).
In total, the year saw 1,614 hours of sunshine. This is the least sunny year for thirty years, the volume normally being 1,845 hours for Semur-en-Auxois. The average temperature of 12.02 degrees is slightly higher than the usual temperature of 11.2 degrees. This result can be explained in particular by a particularly mild month of February (7.8 degrees compared to 3.9 in normal times).
