Two men attacked him on January 1 with the sharp lid of a can of tuna, cutting him in the face and neck, the British daily “The Sun” reported this Friday.

London police have confirmed they are investigating the attack on a “43-year-old prisoner, whose injuries are not life-threatening” at Belmarsh high security prison, south-east of London. A prison administration spokesperson also confirmed the attack on a prisoner without identifying him.

The father and stepmother of Sara Sharif, Beinash Batool, aged 30, were sentenced in mid-December to life in prison in London for the murder of the little girl. The trial of these torturers shocked the United Kingdom, both because of the violence inflicted on Sara and because of the missed opportunities that could have saved her. “It is not an exaggeration to describe what the little girl endured as torture,” the judge declared, recalling one by one the unbearable abuse inflicted on her.

Sara’s uncle Faisal Malik, 29, who lived with the couple in Woking (south-west London), was sentenced to 16 years in prison for “causing or making possible her death”.
