FINALLY ! This Thursday, January 2, 2025, after twenty-one years of absence, the Bigdil is back. And it's on RMC Story (Canal 23 of TNT) that it's happening, always in the company of Vincent Lagaf' and Bill (Gilles Vautier). For Purebreak, I had the chance to attend the filming of a show and it was an incredible moment.

For his autobiography published in 2020, Olivier Giroud chose the title “Always believe in it“. And it is clear that he was right. Of course, I did not become World Champion and I do not (yet?) have the same bank account as him. However, I still managed to realize one of my dreams A dream that I logically no longer thought possible since 2004. Yes, I was able to set my feet on the set. bigdil.
I witnessed the return of bigdil
Indeed, this Thursday, January 2, 2025, twenty-one years after the last broadcast on TF1, the emblematic game hosted by Vincent Lagaf' will make its return, previously unreleased (!), on RMC Story (Canal 23 de la TNT) with a weekly format. A true miracle after so many years of seeing the public demand it, which I was able to witness live from behind the scenes one afternoon in November 2024. And in all objectivity: I had one of the best moments of my life.
However, I'm not going to hide it from you, I was logically feverish when I attended the recording of this Bigdil 2025. Even though the show ended when I was still a spotty teenager with a voice more broken than Patrick Bruel, I never completely lost sight of its concept. In recent years, thanks to the magic of YouTube, I had nourished my nostalgia with replays of old numbers. So I had a still fresh image of what the game offered at the time and the comparison was easy to make.
Continuity designed for fans
Verdict? This is probably the best compliment we can pay to the team behind this comeback: this comparison never happened. And for good reason, the great strength of this Bigdil 2025is that it is exactly like the bigdil previous. So much so that when watching one of its new numbers, we truly have the impression that the show has never left our screens and thatit is not a reboot, but simply a classic continuity. In other words, if you were a fan of the program at the start of the millennium and the occasional repeats on TNT are still entertaining, you will definitely love this revival.
Despite some recent health problems and twenty years older, Vincent Lagaf' is still as energetic, funny and catchy. It's a real pleasure to see him (re)having so much fun on set, where he makes animation a real spectacle. And where the program broadcast on TV will necessarily be edited and cut so as not to drag on, I can assure you that it will not never stops putting on a show and doesn't cheat in front of the public. It may seem trivial, but when you know that your personality is one of the essential ingredients for the success of the program, it's reassuring to know that you're not being fooled.
Impossible not to love this 2025 version
But that's not the only good surprise of this Bigdil 2025. First, Bill (always played by the excellent Gilles Vautier) remains faithful to his good humor and generosity. His complicity with Vincent has not changed and the two of them offer us some tasty exchanges as we like them.
Second, the game formula is exactly the same. As I said above, this return was thought of as continuity and not a revolution. Consequently, we find the same style of arrival of candidatess, we have the right to the same tests or almostand the dynamic remains the same with the curtain dilemma. Finally, where the budget of RMC Story is clearly not that of TF1, at a time when TNT did not even exist, we reassure you, the gifts have not lost their value. They always have something to make us salivate (or make us laugh with the little traps left).
A shot of nostalgia that feels good
Indeed, in front of your television, you will not have the same experience as that experienced behind the scenes. I was able to discover how Bill was created live, I had the chance to witness the preparation of the tests, and I was also able to speak with Vincent Lagaf' to see a little more that he has a passion and pleasure similar to his beginnings.
However, I can assure you of one thing: you will feel that same comforting happiness in front of your screen. Ce Bigdil 2025 is a shot of nostalgia and entertainment like we don't do anymore.
So yeah, maybe some won't like it anymore because they've grown up and moved on. Others might deplore this lack of innovation in the formula which inevitably prevents any surprises, to the point of making one wonder 'what is the point of returning if the reruns already exist?‘.
But when making something (not so) new with something old works so well, why complain? This Bigdil 2025 is not intended to innovate the small world of television, but simply to make us enjoy it, like the old fashioned way. And it works.
