Former players Loïck Jammes, Denis Coulson, Rory Grice, Dylan Hayes and Chris Farrell were tried in January in a gang rape case after a Top 14 match in March 2017. New Zealander Dylan Hayes, found guilty of “failure to prevent a crime” and sentenced to two years in prison, announced through his lawyer Arnaud Lucien that he did not want another trial and therefore not appealing, although he disputes his guilt.

This decision echoes that of Chris Farrell, who also announced that he would not appeal his sentence of four years in prison, two of which were suspended, and the wearing of an electronic bracelet for “failure to assist a person in danger”.

Loïck Jammes, Denis Coulson and Rory Grice, for their part, are incarcerated at the remand center, in , and have decided to appeal the decision. They also made a request for release which will be studied at the end of January by the investigating chamber. As a reminder, they were respectively sentenced to 14, 14 and 12 years in prison for gang rape.
