An apartment was the scene of a major fire this Wednesday morning in a building on rue Balard in . Its occupant, a man, was injured in the hands and treated by emergency services. A 20-year-old woman, who was in a home below the fire, was bothered by the smoke and was also treated. The fire is now under control.

A serious fire broke out this Wednesday morning around 7 a.m. in a three-story building located at 3 rue Balard, near Clemenceau Park.

Significant resources were deployed on site by the firefighters, including two large ladders. They made it possible to rescue from outside the occupant of the apartment affected by the flames, located on the third and last floor of the residence.

Accidental origin

This man, injured in the hands, was evacuated to Lapeyronie hospital. A second person, a 20-year-old woman, who was bothered by the smoke, was also treated. According to the first elements collected, the disaster was of accidental origin, linked to the use of a kitchen instrument.

Around thirty firefighters were mobilized for this intervention which led to the closure of rue Chaptal. The fire was brought under control around 9 a.m. even though smoke continued to escape through the roof of the building.
