2024 is ending and has given us some very beautiful video games. In 2025, we will be just as spoiled, if not more so! Crazy titles await us and for you, we have ranked the fifteen games to watch closely. Action, adventure, RPG, management… an eclectic selection!
The year 2024 was rich in quality video games. Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Silent Hill 2, Dragon Age The Veilguard, Space Marines 2, The War Within… It was very intense! But that's nothing compared to what awaits us in the coming months.
2025 is starting and we already know that we are going to have a crazy year! Lots of games are planned. Blockbusters, indie games, action titles, management titles, open worlds, curiosities that go beyond the box…. There will be something for everyone. We take stock of the fifteen games to watch closely this year. Is there one in particular that appeals to you more than the others?
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Released in 2018, the first Kingdom Come Deliverance was a die-hard game. Taking place in 15th century Bohemia, the title made a point of being as realistic as possible, both in its settings, in its writing as well as in its harsh gameplay. In 2025, the second part finally arrives! We still play Henry de Skalitz, ready to do anything to defend his people. Bigger, fuller, rougher, this opus promises a lot. For role-playing fans and history buffs.
Civilization VII

Is it still useful to present the Civilization saga? While many competitors attempt to challenge him, such as Ara History Untold, the master returns to try to regain his throne with a seventh part. No major upheaval for this opus, but refinements to a formula proven for decades. Say goodbye to your good nights sleep.
Avowed
- Release date: February 13, 2025

Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, Avowed seeks to encroach on the flowerbeds of a certain The Elder Scrolls. It is indeed an open world fantasy game, in the first person. Its originality? The writing of the American studio, always fine and sharp. Note that Avowed takes place in the universe of the two Pillars of Eternity, already praised on this point. The big surprise at the start of the year?
Assassin’s Creed Shadows

After a Mirage which had opted for a reduced scale, the saga Assassin's Creed returns to bombast with Shadows. On the menu, a gigantic open world (feudal Japan), two heroes with very different styles and a ton of content. It's certainly not going to revolutionize video games, but it will be a safe bet… at least we hope so.
Monster Hunter Wilds

There is the good hunter and the bad hunter. Which category will you fall into? You will find out with Monster Hunter Wilds. Once again, Capcom releases the player into a semi-open world to hunt big beasts, alone or with friends.
Mafia The Old Country

Back to the origins with this fourth episode of Mafia. Goodbye American cities and the troubles in Little Italy, since here, we will be propelled into Sicily at the beginning of the 20th century, where it all began. As usual, we should expect an open world game, of course, but with the very particular interventionism of the saga. We can't wait!
Year 117: Pax Romana
Avec Year 117 Pax RomanaUbisoft will immerse us in the High Roman Empire. As usual, you will have to build your colony, make it prosper, trade and extend your influence for the glory of the Emperor. A game that will certainly captivate us for hundreds of hours, like the previous ones. This is clearly one of the editorial staff's big expectations for 2025.

Death Stranding 2 On the Beach

In the world of blockbusters, Death Stranding was a real curiosity when it was released in 2019, because of its radical proposition. The license created by Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear) will return this year in a second part. Once again, the title will offer a strange atmosphere, as well as gameplay focused on travel. Without a doubt one of the big games of 2025 and a major cartridge for the PS5.
Chiaroscuro: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is a JRPG which has a strong particularity: it is not Japanese. Developed by the French from Sandfall Interactive, it wants to pay homage to the genre through an adventure that promises to be grandiose. Beautiful, original and – we hope – gripping, it should delight fans.
DOOM The Dark Ages

DOOM The Dark Ages wants to follow in the footsteps of the two previous installments, namely DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal. However, there is a twist: This is a prequel that adopts a dark fantasy aesthetic. Once again, the gameplay will be focused on pure action with an ultra-controlled pace. THE release of steam from 2025.
Ghost of Yotei

After the triumph of Ghost of Tsushima, Sony is back at it again with Ghost of Yotei. This is not a direct sequel, but another story, with a different protagonist and new territory to explore. However, the goal remains the same: to pay homage to old samurai films. One of the other big ones excluded from the PS5 for 2025.
Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert is an adventure game that draws its influences from Breath of the Wild, Red Dead Redemption 2, The Witcher 3 and Dragon's Dogma. We play Kliff, a warrior released into a gigantic open world filled with monsters to slay. An ambitious title, perhaps a little too much for its own good, but which could become a classic of the genre if it keeps its promises.

Elden Ring Nightreign

Nightreign is a spin-off of the Elden Ring. Same universe and same way of playing, but a very different approach. Indeed, the emphasis will be on cooperation, since three players will be able to travel the world together and fight monsters. Note that this is not a DLC, so it will not be necessary to have the base game, and even less to have progressed in it to play it.
Borderlands 4

After a lackluster Borderlands 3, Gearbox wants to make up for it with a more controlled and mature episode. The recipes for the saga are there: guns, monsters to kill in packs of twelve and millions of items to loot to improve your character. It won't surprise anyone, but it will delight the fans.

GTA 6
With GTA 6, we are not facing a simple video game. The Rockstar title is already a cultural phenomenon of unprecedented scale, even though the release is not scheduled for several months. One thing is certain, it’s going to be a real tidal wave. Everyone is going to talk about it, whether the game is good or not. As a reminder, this episode will put us in the shoes of a couple of robbers in the streets of Vice City, a pastiche of Miami. A title in development for many years and which, if it remains in the tradition of the studio's games, should benefit from a staggering level of detail. The day GTA 6 is released, the planet will stop spinning, that's for sure.
