The Lebrun brothers are aiming for the heights of table Tennis in 2025. Félix and Alexis will compete in major competitions with one goal: to win gold and dethrone China. Discover their busy schedule and their ambitions for this new season which promises to be exciting…
2025 promises to be a pivotal year for brothers Félix and Alexis Lebrun in their quest to dominate world table tennis. After an exceptional 2024 season marked by historic Olympic medals, the two French prodigies are aiming even higher. On the program: the World Championships, the major tournaments of the WTT circuit and a clear objective, to finally dethrone the Chinese who have reigned supreme over the little white ball for decades.
Heading for the Qatar Worlds
The first big meeting of the year awaits the Lebrun brothers in the spring with the individual World Championships (singles and doubles) organized in Qatar in May. After their Olympic bronze medals, in singles for Félix and in teams for the Blues, the appetite is increased tenfold.
The podium is no longer enough, gold alone, in the long term, matters.
According to a source close to the two champions
To do this, the Lebruns will have to overcome Chinese competition, ultra-dominant and undefeated in teams for 25 years, in singles for 20 years. The only exception is the doubles, where the French brothers have been favorites since their victory in the WTT circuit finals at the end of 2024.
A dense international calendar
Beyond the Worlds, Félix (world No. 4) and Alexis Lebrun (No. 16) will continue to compete in tournaments on the WTT world circuit. Four “Grand Smash” events, the most prestigious and lucrative, are on the program:
- Singapore at the end of January
- China in March
- South Korea in June
- Germany in October
In addition, there will be several WTT Champions and WTT Star Contender tournaments across the four corners of the globe. The points collected will be crucial for the world ranking and qualification for major events. A real marathon awaits the two brothers.
Maintain their rank in Europe
On the continental level, the Lebrun will have to confirm their status as European No. 1 and 3. They will defend their titles at French Championships in March and will lead the national team to European Team Championships in September. Good results will be expected to establish their domination.
Perform with their club
Even if they will play on the international circuit for a large part of the season, the Lebrun brothers will not abandon their club in the Nîmes-Montpellier Alliance. Leaders of the French Pro A championship, they will try to retain their national title. The Champions League will be the other major objective with a quarter-final in February against the Germans from Düsseldorf.
Train hard to progress further
To perform on all fronts, Félix and Alexis Lebrun will devote a large part of their time to training. Long preparation courses will punctuate their off-season and their periods without competition. Each aspect of the game will be worked on in detail to eliminate flaws and reach new levels. Because despite their young age (21 and 19), the two brothers are already aiming for maturity to establish themselves permanently at the top of the world hierarchy.
A major challenge facing the Asian armada
The road promises to be long and strewn with pitfalls to dethrone the Chinese and the best Asians who monopolize the top 10 in the world. If certain legends like Ma Long and Fan Zhendong are expected to play less in 2025, the succession is already assured with the younger generation led by the Japanese Tomokazu Harimoto (n°3) and the Chinese Wang Chuqin (n°1). A hell of a challenge ahead for the Lebruns in their quest for world gold!
Beating everyone is what we want now. We no longer set limits for ourselves.
According to reported comments from the Lebrun brothers
One thing is certain, the 2025 table tennis season promises to be exciting and uncertain with this new Europe-Asia duel played by the Lebrun brothers. The spotlights around the world will be focused on the journey of the two Frenchmen who carry all the hopes of a booming French sport. See you in January for the start of hostilities!
