A change of coach between Christmas and New Year. 16th in Ligue 2 at the Christmas break, Stade Malherbe de Caen has decided to change coach and announced this Sunday the dismissal of Nicolas Seube, who took office a little over a year ago. The club recently bought by Kylian Mbappé would have chosen a coach from abroad, reports West France.
“After a year spent at the head of the professional team, Stade Malherbe Caen has decided to end its collaboration with Nicolas Seube. Coach since last December, the most capped player in the history of SM Caen will have managed 44 meetings on the bench of the 'red and blue'”, writes the club in a brief press release.
“Stade Malherbe Caen thanks Nicolas Seube for his commitment for more than twenty years and wishes him good continuation in his coaching career.” Stade Malherbe, 16th in Ligue 2, is in a play-off position at the Christmas break and has 15 points after 16 days, tied with penultimate Ajaccio.
A foreign coach to replace him?
Last season, Nicolas Seube managed to turn around the sporting situation, moving SM Caen from 16th to 6th place in one semester, thanks to 42 points taken in 23 matches (13 wins, 5 draws, 5 defeats). But his record this season is considered eliminatory, despite the promises of winter recruits made by the sports management.
To replace him, Stade Malherbe should welcome, according to information from Ouest-France, a coach from abroad, who will therefore not be Habib Beye. The new coach would be expected to resume training on Monday December 30, but nothing would yet be guaranteed on this subject.
