His status as a “hero” of the Caen public was not enough for him. This Sunday, December 29, 2024, the Stade Malherbe Caen () announced the dismissal of Nicolas Seube from his position as coach.

Nicolas Seube dismissed after one year in office

The most capped player at the club, where he spent his entire playing career, Nicolas Seube managed 44 matches on the weed bench. He took charge of the team in December 2023, when the club was in bad shape after a series of eleven matches without a win under the direction of Jean-Marc Furlan. The former defensive midfielder managed to restore the situation, to the point of narrowly missing the accession play-offs at the end of the 2023/24 season. But, since the start of this season, the results and the game were no longer there. So much so that, at the break, Romain Thomas and his partners were in 16th position, that of the relegation barrier.

No time to wait for the Mercato

In his defense, Nicolas Seube put forward admissible arguments: a delay in preparation, due to the late takeover of the club by the Mbappé clan; many significant injured (M'vila, Traoré, Henry, etc.) in a squad already limited in number; a glaring lack of success… He was counting on the winter transfer window to rebalance his squad and hope to climb back up the rankings.

The new management of the club did not give him time, believing that a new lease of life was necessary.

A new coach from Monday?

A new coach should arrive quickly. Perhaps from this Monday, December 30, the date of the resumption of training, five days before the resumption of the championship, Friday January 3, 2025 against Clermont.
