– A recent study reveals that 3.2% of the French population has probably already been the victim of an investment scam, or 1.5 million French people.
Be wary if you have seen an advertisement mentioning a savings account with an interest rate of 5.25% and offering a welcome bonus of 250 euros. This booklet would be proposed by Propel of Crédit Agricole. But it is a scam. This is what the bank announces on the home page of its website, to call on its professional customers to be vigilant. The “Propulse by CA” pro offer does not actually offer any savings or investment product, emphasizes Moneyvox. Indeed, Propel is a 100% online professional account offered by Crédit Agricole for entrepreneurs.
«This product does not exist and any promotion about it is an attempt at fraud», writes Crédit Agricole, which specifies: “THE scammers lure victims with the promise of high returns without risk and often ask for an initial deposit to activate the booklet. Once the money is transferred by the victims, the fraudsters disappear with the funds, leaving victims without recourse and with significant financial losses».

More and more undetectable scams
A recent study conducted for the Financial Markets Authority (AMF) reveals that 3.2% of the French population has probably already been a victim of an investment scam, or 1.5 million French people. All scams combined, the average amount of loss declared is 29 000 euros. «There was a time when scams were easy to spot. Today they are more and more refined, based on building trust among people and therefore more and more difficult to identify.» according to Marie-Anne Barbat-Layani, president of the AMF.
